FROM ASH

CHAPTER FOUR: THE FALL

The freight elevator descended into darkness.

Christopher stood beside Ash as red emergency lights flashed above them.

Neither spoke.

The countdown reflected across the steel walls.

09:17

Ash stared at the floor.

Christopher stared at his daughter.

Years stolen.

Words left unsaid.

He wanted to tell her everything.

How sorry he was.

How often he prayed for this moment.

How many nights he cried for her.

But there wasn’t time.

The elevator shook violently.

Explosions echoed above.

Ash looked up.

“They’re trying to destroy evidence.”

Christopher frowned.

“What does that mean?”

Her eyes filled with dread.

“If they can’t launch The Veil…”

“They’ll bury everything.”

The elevator doors opened.

And Christopher stepped into hell.

Beneath NOISE Tower sat a chamber larger than a football stadium.

Thousands of cables ran across walls like veins.

Massive servers towered toward darkness.

At the center—

THE VEIL

A giant circular machine suspended over an endless drop.

It pulsed with blinding energy.

Neural frequencies surged through global satellite systems.

Millions of human minds were already connected.

Christopher stared in horror.

“This is broadcasting worldwide?”

Ash nodded.

“Once it launches…”

“Anyone connected to NOISE receives it.”

“How many people?”

Ash whispered:

“Almost everyone.”

Christopher felt sick.

Slow clapping echoed through the chamber.

Both turned.

A man stepped from the shadows.

Perfect suit.

Silver hair.

Striking blue eyes. Yet calm.

Terrifying smile.

Adrian Blackthorne

Christopher immediately recognized him.

“No…”

Adrian smiled.

“Christopher Ray.”

“Still dramatic.”

Ash’s face twisted with hatred.

“You manipulated me.”

Adrian laughed softly.

“I gave you purpose.”

Ash screamed:

“You turned me into a weapon!”

Adrian looked almost disappointed.

“I gave humanity freedom.”

Christopher stepped forward.

“You’re erasing free will.”

Adrian smiled.

“No.”

“I’m erasing suffering.”

He gestured toward massive screens.

Images flashed:

wars

suicides

abuse

addiction

genocide

broken families

grieving parents

“Look at your world.”

“Humanity worships pain.”

He looked at Christopher.

“You built Noise.”

Then at Ash.

“She perfected it.”

Then smiled.

“And I will complete it.”

Christopher clenched his fists.

“You’re playing God.”

Adrian leaned closer.

“No.”

He smiled.

“I’m replacing Him.”

Christopher attacked first.

Years of military training exploded back to life.

He disarmed guards.

Used fallen weapons.

Moved with brutal precision.

Ash fought beside him.

She was fast.

Precise.

Fueled by rage.

Father and daughter fought together.

For the first time ever.

They moved like survival itself.

Explosions erupted.

Drones descended.

Christopher destroyed wave after wave.

Ash hacked security systems mid-fight.

Disabled barriers.

Opened access routes.

Adrian escaped toward the core platform.

Christopher pursued him.

Massive hand-to-hand battle erupted above The Veil reactor.

Steel platforms collapsed.

Fire erupted below.

Adrian fought dirty.

Christopher fought desperate.

Finally—

Christopher pinned him to the platform.

Adrian laughed while bleeding.

“You still don’t understand.”

He pressed a hidden trigger.

SELF DESTRUCT ACTIVATED

VEIL LAUNCH IN 03:00

Christopher’s eyes widened.

Adrian smiled.

“If they can still find Truth..."

“They’ll keep destroying each other.”

Christopher slammed him into the reactor.

Adrian fell into the energy core.

Gone.

Ash reached Christopher.

“We have to shut it down!”

She frantically worked terminals.

Then stopped.

Her face fell.

“No…”

Christopher saw it.

“What?”

Her voice shook.

“The shutdown must be manual.”

“How long?”

She looked at him.

“The person inside won’t survive.”

Christopher already knew.

He moved toward the reactor chamber.

Ash grabbed him.

“No.”

Christopher looked at her.

“This is why I came.”

She cried harder.

“No.”

He smiled softly.

Ash collapsed emotionally.

“I just got you back.”

Christopher touched her face.

“You were always worth fighting for.”

Security explosions rocked the chamber.

Time:

00:58

Christopher locked her behind blast doors.

She pounded the glass.

“DAD!”

Christopher placed his hand against the glass.

“I love you."

He entered the reactor chamber.

Ash screamed.

Christopher reached the manual shutdown lever.

Time:

00:03

He pulled it.

Light consumed everything.

The entire tower exploded.

Ash was thrown backward.

The world disappeared into white.
